When we install a driveway we will always ensure that there is at least 200mm of subbase along with sufficient drainage. If we need to install any sort of drain system, this would consist of a large soakaway under the driveway, which collects the water from channel drains.
As with our patios, we include a concrete edge around the perimeter of the drive to avoid any subsidence.
